  Safety

Basic Safety
A flight safety briefing is always given to non High Spy crew prior to take off. Highspy takes safe flying very seriously.

We require a "take off" corridor up wind and an "approach" corridor down wind. These corridors must be clear of occupied vehicles or pedestrians and cordoned off whenever possible.

High Spy is capable of operating in confined areas as small as three metres square provided clear corridors are available. Should the engine fail then auto-rotation is entered to maintain rotor rpm and thus retain cyclic control to steer to a safe ditching zone.

Flying Close To Crowds Safety is paramount
High Spy will not fly over crowds or members of the public. If flying near people is required then certain safety procedures must be in force:

· A safety corridor directly below the helicopter must be maintained at all times.

· At least 30 metres must be kept between the helicopter and any crowd line. This distance may be reduced to 10 metres as far as the crews are concerned.

· CAA restrictions state we cannot fly within 50 metres of any person, vehicle or occupied structure not involved with or aware of the filming.

. Within 200 metres of any congested area of a city, town or settlement.

. At a height exceeding 150 metres or distance 500 metres.

Flying Next To Roads And Congested Areas
High Spy will not fly over roads unless traffic control is enforced by the police or permission is given by the police. If traffic control is not available then the 20 metre rule for crowds will be in force. The above procedures are regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority (safety group).

General Safety
High Spy holds a general exemption although the CAA still has to be informed (UK only). The CAA may at any time refuse permission or impose further restrictions as necessary.

· Only qualified "B" certified pilots are used.

· A radio frequency scanner is used to listen to our guidance frequency and checks for interference.

· The pilot is in radio communication with ground support crew.

· A tether option is available it allows flight in confined or congested areas.

· High Spy carries full public liability insurance to third parties.
